Joytonia Jackson is a CPI Trainer leading the Doula Birth and Postpartum course. She is also a childbirth educator and doula trainer reaching those in Hanford California, and the Lemoore area. Additionally, supporting Fresno and Visalia families.

She serves on the Black Infant Health Task force to empower African American women in the California’s Central Valley working to reduce infant mortality and improving birth outcomes for Black families and their babies.  She has a BS in Healthcare Administrator Management, and a background in Licensed Vocational Nursing.

Mrs. Jackson is a mother of 5 and the CEO/ Founder of Dutchess of Doula. Her journey started as a Doula in 1996 assisting military members and families in their birthing experiences. Dutchess of Doula provides prenatal classes, childbirth support, and postpartum care to families in the greater Fresno and Lemoore area.

Beginning in 2019, Dutchess of Doula was selected as the first pilot community Doula program to provide support to pregnant families with Anthem Blue Cross Medi-Cal in the Central Valley Area. 

Since 1996 she has worked to support military personnel and their families. Her motto is “empowering your birthing vision in a nurturing supportive environment”.

Program

The CPI Doula Birth and Postpartum certification program is internationally recognized and prepares doulas for an amazing and rewarding career. The comprehensive curriculum prepares doulas to support women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Participants will also learn strategies to build a successful doula business.

Learning Outcomes

The curriculum is competency based. Students will be able to:

  • Identify attributes of doula care that improve birth outcomes
  • Implement techniques that assist with coping during labor
  • Recognize transformative phases of childbirth
  • Assist mothers with initial breastfeeding
  • Assess state of families during postpartum and provide care
  • Write a doula business plan

Steps for Doula Certification

1. Take Doula Birth and Postpartum Course

2. Provide Doula support for two families

3. Interview two birth professionals

4. Complete reading required course books

Fees automatically include certification, membership, and paperless documentation.

Nothing to mail or fax! No yearly fees.


Enrollment Information

All classes meet 4 days from 9 am to 1 pm at our Hanford location.

If location is on COVID19 lock down then course will be held virtually by Zoom. Otherwise in person classes will follow COVID 19 safety procedures with required masks, hand washing, temperature checks, and social distancing.

Refund Policy

Without exception all refund requests must be submitted in writing 30 days before workshop is scheduled to begin. A nonrefundable fee of $75 will be retained in all cases. Late cancellations receive a credit to attend same workshop within 1 year. Credits are not transferable to a different attendee. We extend our empathy to anyone experiencing an unforeseen circumstance including personal or family illness or an emergent event. You may request a credit to attend same workshop led by Joytonia Jackson; must be completed within 1 year of original payment.

Cancellation Policy

We reserve the right to cancel any workshop in response to circumstances beyond our control. In the event of cancellation, registration fees will be refunded.
