Additionally, women that breastfeed their children for two years or more reduce the risk of developing breast cancer by 24 percent.
It is important that doulas, birth educators, midwives, physicians and other childbirth professionals help men transition into their roles as fathers.

So often pregnancy and childbirth education materials are mother focused and the fathers-to-be are side lined, receiving little to no information to prepare them for fatherhood. Let’s change that by providing support and guidance to expectant fathers, easing their fears and increasing their confidence.

Related Posts:

Best Journals for Childbirth Professionals

Pregnancy App for iPad

August Celebrates Breastfeeding

Doula Work

What to know about having a Big Baby…

After our last post Breech Baby Resources, we were asked if we had any information regarding the delivery of twins, when twin A is head down.

What a great question! Many twin moms are facing this situation…Here is our answer.

It is important that women expecting twins receive evidence-based information and be fully informed regarding having their babies delivered vaginally or by cesarean surgery.

Related Posts:

Breech Baby Resources

Become a Birth Advocate

A Question About Cesarean Surgery

Free Childbirth Education Booklets

What to know about having a Big Baby…

It is important to share evidence-based information and resources with pregnant women about breech birth.

Historically, breech babies have been turned or delivered vaginally by the skill of midwives and doctors. In the 1970′s, the United States cesarean rate began to increase from 5.5% to it’s current high of about 33% (see chart). Although, the top two reasons for cesarean births are failure to progress, and fetal distress, breech babies do account for a portion of the 1 in 3 women now giving birth by cesarean.

Related Posts:

Evidence supports vaginal twin births

What to know about having a Big Baby…

Become a Birth Advocate

Think about Homebirth

Free Childbirth Education Booklets
