How to make money as a Childbirth Professional, Part 4

PerseverePersevere

Persevere if you are starting a childbirth related business.

Persevere if you are growing your career as a childbirth professional.

Persevere if you are doing both.

Don’t let anyone or any obstacle discourage you.

Write down an affirmation that will lift your spirits. Take a photo of it with your cell phone and save it as wall paper for your unlock screen (or just tape it to the bathroom mirror).

Success will come if you diversify, set goals, invest, and persevere! And the money will too…

Invest in yourselfInvest

You have heard the saying, “To make money, you have to spend money,” and it is partly true.  However it is important to not only invest money in your career, but also invest time, patience, passion, and vision as well.

Take the time to take classes or workshops that teach you how to use social media, use the latest technology, run a business, market your business, and so forth.  Buy books that teach you new things, or spend time in the library researching, or watch educational videos online.

Invest in knowledge.

Be patient with yourself as you work as a student, learning greater skills as a doula, a midwife, a lactation consultant, a childbirth educator, etc.  If you don’t have a certain essential skill such as preparing your taxes or website design, pay some one who is highly skilled to assist you.

Take the time to nurture your soul; read books, pray, dance, listen to music, cook, create, receive kisses and hugs, receive a massage.  Invest in self care so that you have so much to give others.

Don’t rush your vision.  Take the time to think about where you are headed as a Childbirth Professional.

Be Still. Chat. Journal. Share. Visualize.

Then you will realize a return on all that you invest.

Set Goals for Birth Professionals Set Goals

Having a goal to work towards each month and taking action will push you forward and increase your income.

Think about how many sales or clients you need to have each month to be profitable, and set a goal.

Work towards your goal, for example decide to host or attend a meet the doula night every month.  This will give you the opportunity to market your services.  If you are a lactation consultant decide how many hours you need to book each day to be profitable and work towards achieving your weekly goal.

If you teach classes to families, set a goal of how many classes you need to fill each week to be profitable and work towards it.

Often we expect to make more money but don’t have a goal or plan to achieve the results we need.  Writing down a goal is the first step. Next you must write down beside your goals the action steps needed to achieve them. Take action and watch your income increase.

We challenge you to contact us on Twitter @birthprofession or Facebook Page Childbirth Professionals and let us know what will be your next goal.
